Rollback to previous calendar

November 30, 2004

Due to unforeseen problems with the new Calendar service, ITS has reinstated the old Calendar service. You can now login to your Calendar via the same method that you have used prior to Friday 26th November.

It appears that part of the calendar database was corrupted in the migration process. ITS staff have been working around the clock to try to complete the migration and resolve the problem, but have been unsuccessful. ITS staff have also been working with the vendor, Sun Microsystems, but no short term solution is available; nor is it understood what caused the problem.

The migration process underwent extensive testing over the past year, with more than 50 test runs being carried out. This is the first time that a problem of this nature has occurred.

To ensure the smooth operation of the University, ITS senior management have agreed to reinstate the old Calendar service immediately. The migration to the new Calendar service will be rescheduled for a later date.

Unfortunately, any meetings/events that have been added to the new system will need to be re-entered into the old system.
