Monash wins most popular Australian education website award again

For the second consecutive year, Monash University has won the Education - Institutions category in the 2007 Hitwise Online Performance Awards program for the my.monash portal.

The Hitwise award recognises excellence in online performance, which means that the my.monash portal was the most popular of all the education websites in Australian in 2007.

Approximately 35,000 students and 3,500 staff use the portal every day. Usage peaked at 47,191 unique visitors logging on to my.monash during the first day of semester one, 2008.

“The guiding philosophy of ‘my.monash’ is to provide each member of the Monash community with the relevant information, resources and services they need for their specific role within the University,” says Alan McMeekin, Executive Director, Information Technology Services Division.

“Being the recipient of this performance award for the second year running is external recognition of the ongoing value of the my.monash service to students and staff of Monash globally.”

The ability of the my.monash service to handle daily traffic volumes is directly related to the exceptional standard and availability of the underlying enabling infrastructure. Congratulations to all involved in the success of the my.monash service.
