Students satisfied with computer labs - new survey

February 9, 2006

A computer lab usability survey, conducted by ITS Client Services (CS) in the second semester 2005, revealed that most students are satisfied with the resources provided to them.

Students were asked their opinion on the software, hardware and physical layout of the lab, the ease of use, and the general value of the facility to them. Students were also asked about possible improvements in the labs.

Over 50% of survey respondents used the labs two to four days a week, with over 20% using them once a week. The most usage in the labs was to check assignments, followed by checking emails and printing. ITS Service Desk staff conducted the survey across all campuses visiting a lab hourly over a given week.

Complementing an overall satisfaction rating, CS plans to make several changes including new PCs, scanners and printers in various laboratories, improvement of furniture, and changes to opening times on some campuses.
