Berwick Learning Commons kicks off October 4, 2005
An initiative to improve the student experience was kicked off during September with work beginning on the Berwick Learning Commons in which Library and IT Services on the Berwick campus are undergoing a transformation. The Learning Commons will bring together service desks, resources and student amenities into the one precinct. Between October 2005 and February 2006, the Berwick library will be expanded to incorporate the campus IT computer labs and Service Desk, creating the Berwick Library and Learning Commons. It will house 70 computers with separate areas for quiet and group work and a training room. Staff at a combined service desk will provide answers to both library and IT questions. Staff will also ‘roam’ the space, providing on-the-spot assistance. In addition, students will have access to printing services, email, telephone help and online chat. ITS and the Library, along with Student, Community and Shared Services and staff at the Berwick campus have been working together on this project, which is due for completion in February 2006. |
