Monash-Connect wireless service

The new Monash-Connect wireless service is scheduled to be available on Monash University campuses by the start of semester one. New wireless management capability is being introduced in conjunction with the Monash-Connect wireless service.

The Monash-Connect wireless service

• is intended to simplify wireless access and improve perceived reliability of the wireless service
• will support PDAs as well as laptop computers (Windows XP/Vista, Linux and Mac)
• is easier to use as this service does not require the use of a VPN session
• uses an IEEE 802.1x authentication scheme similar to that used for the eduroam wireless service
• will be the same coverage as that for Monash-Wireless-Net and eduroam.

The existing Monash-Wireless-Net service will remain available for staff and students needing to download the necessary authentication code and instructions for Monash-Connect.
The eduroam service for visiting academics from other educational institutions will also continue.
