New Clayton telephone numbers to start with '2'

Telephone numbers at Clayton are nearing the maximum number of combinations for extensions starting with the number (03) 9905 xxxx. Subsequently, new Clayton numbers that are issued will begin with the (03) 9902 xxxx extension range. Number allocation will begin with 20xxx and will continue upwards.

This does not affect the function or numbering of Gippsland campus extension numbers which will remain unaltered in the 26xxx and 27xxx number ranges.

Numbering Overview

• Gippsland will continue to have 2 prefixes (03) 990 and (03) 512, so that callers from both Melbourne and Morwell can get to Gippsland for a price of a local call.
• A Gippsland extension can be rung with either a (03) 990 or a (03) 512 prefix, the call will be received at the same destination.
• You will not be able to dial a Clayton 20xxx extension with the Gippsland (03) 512 prefix, you must use the Clayton (03) 990 prefix.
• Please note that the (03) 512 prefix can only be used with the 26xxx and 27xxx number ranges, pertaining to Gippsland only.
• Not all 26xxx and 27xxx extensions end up at the Gippsland campus, Monash's main numbers will remain unaltered by this change.
