New phone directory availableOctober 2004
The "Monash Phone Directory" icon is available on the PCs of staff whose computers are on the new NetWare6 network. Staff who are on the NetWare4 network can continue to use the 'TelDir" icon on their PCs or can access the phone directory information via the web. The phone directory, known as "MIDS" (Monash Internal Directory Service), is a fully functional web-based client that provides staff with direct access to data in the directory, including phone numbers, office location and a hierarchical display of organisational entities and their structure. The application runs under Internet Explorer (IE), Mozilla and Firefox browsers in line with emerging Monash and industry standards. It is not recommended for use with Netscape version 4.x. If a user clicks on the icon it will invoke the default browser when starting the application. Staff who wish to use MIDS should ensure that their default browser is one of the recommended versions. Staff who are unsure how to set their default browser should contact their local IT support staff or the ITS Service Desk for advice. For further information about MIDS,
please refer to the Telephones
Services section of the ITS website. |
