ITS Malaysia celebrates move to new Sunway campus

The opening of Monash’s new Sunway campus and the end of orientation week were recently celebrated by the ITS team in Malaysia.

The team at Sunway campus manage and support IT systems for all Monash University schools and departments in Malaysia and also the clinical school in Johor Bahru near Singapore. The team provide input and second level support to audio visual and electronic security as well as managing the campus telephone system.

The campus now has over 3000 full-time students, a growth of nearly 20% per year, with approximately 340 staff across five schools and administrative areas.

Sunway IT statistics include:

• 12 computer labs for centrally booked classes
• two computer labs in each of Medicine, Engineering, Infotech and Arts
• one computer lab each for the Language Centre and training in the Library
• over 100 computers in the Library Learning Commons (with capacity for 180 or more)
• more than 400 staff computers are supported by ITS
• the system also includes 10 wireless zones, 30+ servers, 4 networked PABXs with VoIP, 4 ISP connections and 3 videoconference venues.
