Staff at Peninsula get their hands on new Monash Phones

The latest success story for the Integrated Collaboration Environment (ICE) Program is the successful conversion of the Peninsula campus to our new IP Telephony environment.

Monash employees and students alike are enjoying the new functionality that the Monash Phone service provides, according to staff.

Tanya O’Brien, from the Peninsula Campus Management team, says she loves the easy-to-read screens and caller line identifier on her new phone.

Tanya also appreciates the improved clarity of the line connection.

“You can hear everything so clearly!” Tanya says.

“I’m really looking forward to exploring the functionalities of the phone and using it to its full potential”.

Patricia Thorne, from Monash Residential Services (MRS), says her team also love their new handsets.

“We are really enjoying the enhanced pick-group capabilities,” Trish said.

“In particular, it’s great being able to see who is calling the other extension before picking up the call”.

Trish says the new phones have also been very popular with Peninsula’s student residents.

“As the phones run through the data network, all residents can now have their own phone in their bedrooms,” Trish explained.

“These have been specially configured to provide internal calling rights, as well as access to call 1800 numbers, emergency services, local hospitals and important information lines”.

Trish is also pleased to have a customised MRS background image on the phone, making the phone visually appealing and unique to the MRS environment.

The next campus scheduled to receive the new Monash Phone service is Gippsland, where the VoIP Project team will be onsite for approximately 6 weeks.
