Monash Chat (Lotus Sametime Instant Messaging)

Monash Chat (Sametime) is the first component of the Monash e-Meeting (Lotus Sametime) service to be rolled out to staff. It is accessible through Monash Messaging (Lotus Notes).

Among its many benefits are:

• presence awareness
• text/voice/video chat sessions
• ability to save transcripts of text-chat sessions
• integration with other public instant messaging networks such as Google Talk - Sametime Gateway
• file transfers

Enhancing collaboration

Monash Chat facilitates online, instant text communication within the Monash community and enables staff to make collaborative decisions quickly and easily.

When used in conjunction with real-time video and voice functionality, online meetings and screen sharing (available 2010) staff will have an integrated, innovative collaboration service available from desktop - saving time and supporting Monash's commitment to environmental sustainability.
