Monash Messaging - PDA Synchronisation

The Monash Messaging (Lotus Notes) suite of tools opens up a dramatically expanded range of PDA synchronisation capabilties for Monash staff.

Enhancing collaboration

Supporting next-generation PDA devices directly aligns with the purpose of the ICE Program to upgrade our technology to the 21st century and expand wireless technology capabilities for Monash staff.

Monash Messaging (Lotus Notes) integrates with the most popular, next-generation PDAs that offer users the functionality of email, calendar, task management and contacts no matter where the user is geographically located.

The varying levels of synchronisation of the three most common PDA devices with Lotus Notes is summarised below.

  • Blackberry (live ‘push’ capability = full synchronisation; fully secure)
    - Available now

  • Apple iPhone (email web session only = no synchronisation; partially secure)
    - Available now

  • Windows Mobile (‘pull’ capability = manual synchronisation; partially secure)
    - Available now

Please note: Monash staff are strongly encouraged to evaluate their specific work needs and read all relevant ITS documentation prior to purchasing a PDA.
