Internet Access authentication

Browser configuration for Internet Explorer

The following instructions will allow Monash staff and students to configure Internet Explorer (version 6.0.x) to use the Monash Internet service. This is required for external Monash internet access.

Step 1

Start Internet Explorer and click on the Tools menu. Then select Internet Options in the drop-down menu that appears.

Step 2

In the Internet Options window click on the Connections tab located at the top middle.

Click the LAN Settings button in the bottom right.

Step 3

Ensure all check boxes are empty

Click on the OK button at the bottom of the LAN Settings, and then click OK again on the Internet Options window to finish.

Step 4

Internet Explorer is now configured to use the Monash Internet Service and will be able to access external web pages provided that a valid username and Authcate password is entered when requested.

When you browse to an external website you will be redirected to authenticate.
