Internet Access authentication

Browser configuration for Mozilla Firefox on Mac OSx

The following instructions will allow Monash staff and students to configure Mozilla Firefox (version 2.x) on Mac OSx to use the Monash Internet service. This is required for external Monash internet access.

Step 1

Start Firefox and click on the Firefox menu. Then select Preferences in the drop-down menu that appears.

In the Options window click on the Advanced icon located at the top right.

Click the Network tab.

Click on the Settings button.

Step 3

Select Direct connection to the Internet.

Connection Settings

Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Connection Settings, and then click OK again on the Options window to finish.

Step 4

Firefox is now configured to use the Monash Internet Service and will be able to access external web pages provided that a valid Authcate username and password is entered when requested.

When you browse to an external website you will be redirected to authenticate.
