What is this service?

This service is the provision of free-to-air television via the Monash University fixed data network. This service includes Melbourne stations ABC, 7, 9, 10 and SBS as well select overseas channels.

Who can use it?

Authorised Monash University students, staff, and other authorised users connected to the fixed data network at all Monash University locations.

How do I get it activated?

This service does not require activation.

How do I use it once activated?


This service is immediately available after installation of the VLC media player. For more information visit the TV streaming website  for a guide on how to set up and use this service.


How much does it cost?


The VLC software is free of charge.

Requests for additional channels need to be made via the ITS Service Desk  and will be responded to with cost depending on the satellite dish and appliance requirement of the channel. Estimates are between $2,000 and $4,000 per channel once only cost and 10% per annum ongoing.
