Monash-Conference-Net Frequently Asked QuestionsWhy has it been created?The Conference Wireless Network has been created to provide a basic wireless service for conference attendees to access the Internet primarily for email and general web access. When and where is the Conference Wireless Network available?The Conference Wireless Network is only enabled for conferences that request the service, and only for the duration of the conference. The service is installed by request in the conference area, and will disabled (or removed) after the conference ends. Who can use the Conference Wireless Network?Only the attendees of the conference are given a username/password to access the service, and only for the duration of the service. Monash staff and students should use Monash-Connect. What protocols are supported?The Conference Wireless Network is restricted to a limited service that provides web access (http and https), email (SMTP, POP and IMAP) and basic connection services (Telnet and SSH). How do I connectUse the instructions at Connecting to Monash-Conference-Net. Data PrivacyThe Monash Conference Wireless Network does not use any form of encryption. Users should avoid sending confidential information over the network unless a secured page is used (indicated by an address that starts with https://)
