Creating a dial-up connection - Windows XP
Windows XP provides a ‘Connection Wizard’ which can be accessed as follows:

Select Start > Control Panel > Network Connections

From the Network Tasks menu on the left,
select Create a new connection

- Select Next

- Select Connect to the network at my workplace > Next

- Select Dial-up connection
Select Next

- Enter the name Monash-Dial-Access
Select Next.

- Enter the phone number 0198333839 (without spaces)
Select Next

- Select Add a shortcut
Select Finish

You will now need to customize this connection for the Monash Dial-up service.
- Right Click Monash-Dial-Access

Select Properties
- Select Security tab
Select Advanced
Select Settings

- From the Data encryption box
select Optional encryption
Select Allow these protocols
Select only Unencrypted password (PAP)
Select OK
A warning message will be displayed
select Yes and continue

- Select Networking tab

- From the ‘Type of dial-up server I am calling’ menu, select PPP:
Select TCP/IP
Select General

- Click on the `General’ tab
Check that the phone number is 0198333839 (without spaces)
Select Options tab

- From the Dialing options box, select only:
- Select Display progress while connecting
- Select Prompt for name and password, certificate etc.
Set the redialing options as you want them – the above settings can be used as a default
Select OK

Now go to the internet proxy settings page to set this up and then
go to and install the VPN software.
