Calling Line Identification/ Calling Number Display

For general utility purposes, and in particular for the safety and protection of the Monash community and that of the wider community at large in the event of personal emergencies, or threatening, harassing or disruptive calls, Monash maintains a policy of both sending (to the Carriers' networks) and receiving (from the Carriers' networks) Calling Line Identification (CLI) information, wherever technically possible to do so. We are noticing that this is an increasingly sought after functionality from users, due to its progressively wider availability in the general community.

CLI Outgoing

Until recently, as a result of intractable technical and regulatory complexities, the Carriers were not passing on the CLI we gave them for many outgoing calls most of the time. Under new arrangements, outgoing CLI will henceforth apply on almost all calls almost all of the time. We will continue to work with Telstra to attempt to resolve the remaining pockets where this does not apply.

Calling Number Display (CND) Incoming and Internal

CND has always been available, using any of the various system integral handsets.

At Monash, CND is not available on basic analog PABX services.
