Mobile phone procurement for Monash University

Order through the Solve online store

The university is currently in a tender process for the selection of carrier telephony services that may result in a different mobile carrier. You should consider this when entering into a fixed term data plan and should inform yourself of the termination penalties.

It is also relevant that the handset is usable on all networks (Next G + GSM quad band) and not just on Telstra's Next G network. The approved devices are compatible with all carriers.

It is expected that the tender will be finalised by February.

Monash is also currently running a Blackberry pilot. If successful this may result in the Blackberry being the recommended PDA for some or all relevant university staff.

Monash University has in place a procurement policy that has limited the purchase of mobile handsets to the following devices:
  • Nokia E51
  • Nokia 6120,
  • Motorolla RAZR V9
Purchasing of non approved devices may be subject to auditing and scrutiny of the University Procurement Board.
