Abbreviated dialing

How to set up abbreviated dialing

Please note that ITS currently recommends the use of Firefox or Internet Explorer to access the Cisco configuration page below, there have been reports that some other browsers such as Safari are not yet fully supported.
  1. Access the IP Phone configuration web page using the link below

    Note: Access to the Cisco Unified CM system is limited to Monash IP addresses on Australian campuses and Monash VPN users.

  2. Enter your IP Phone Username. This is your five digit extension number.

  3. Enter your IP Phone Password and click Login.

    Note: If you need to set or reset your IP Phone password please refer to the IP Phone PIN change page.

    When successfully logged in you will see your five digit extension number on the top right hand side of the page.

  4. Select User Options then Device.

  5. Select Speed Dials. Speed Dials button
  6. For each number you wish to add, enter a phone number in the Number field and and meaningful description in the Label field of the Advanced Dial Settings table.

    The ASCII Label field will be automatically filled for you when you press tab.

    Note: Ensure you add a leading zero if the abbreviated dial is for an external number.

  7. When you have finished select Save.Save button
  8. Select Logout at the top right hand side of the page.

How to use abbreviated dialing

To use abbreviated dialing on your Monash phone:

Press the number of the abbreviated dial position you would like to call (i.e. 1) and then press the AbbrDial soft key.

Note: This will automatically go to your speaker so remember to pick up your handset or press Headset. This will not work if you firstly pick up the handset and then attempt to use the abbreviated dial.
