Getting started with voicemail

IP Voicemail service

Before proceeding please read this page and the Voicemail guidelines document, taking particular note of the discussion of personal greetings.
  • If you have not had the voicemail service enabled on your IP telephony handset, please:

Submit a request through Service Installations and Changes requesting voicemail to be added to your extension.

  • The first-time enrolment conversation is a set of pre-recorded instructions that guide you as you do the following tasks:
  • Record your name.
  • Record a greeting that outside callers hear when you do not answer your phone.
  • Change your phone password. (Longer passwords are more secure.)

When a Voicemail box has been established for you:

Your ID is: Your extension number, the pin is: 0000

To enroll as a voicemail user:

  1. Press the messages button on your desk phone.

Alternatively you may dial 27027 from within Monash or (03) 990 27027 if you are outside the organisation.

  2. If you are calling from another phone within Monash or from outside the organisation, press * when voicemail answers.
  3. Listen carefully, and respond as prompted. The system will tell you when the enrolment process is complete. If you hang up before you have completely enrolled, none of your changes are saved and the first-time enrolment conversation plays again the next time you log on to voicemail.

If you have any queries or feedback, please log a Heat request.
