Polycom PVX 8.0.2

Please contact your departmental or faculty IT support if you have one. If you do not have local IT support, please contact the ITS Service Desk on your campus.

The software provided already includes the license number and is activated. No registration or activation is required.  If you are requested to do registration or activation when you try to use the software, you may have been given the wrong software. Please report of such incidents.

Install

  • Obtain the Polycom PVX installer.
  • Run pvx8020235-monash.exe to install Polycom PVX 8.0.2. Follow on-screen instructions. You must install into default folder (C:\Program Files\Polycom\PVX\). Full Installation Guide  is available, if required.
  • The Polycom PVX will run automatically when the installation completes.
  • Next, configure  the Polycom PVX.

Configure

Step 1: Windows XP SP2 users may receive a Windows Security Alert if they have enabled Windows Firewall. Click on "Unblock".

Step 2: Enter your name (firstname lastname), email address and your office telephone number (omit "990" if your number starts with "990", put full number for all others). Leave the number as it is if you do not have a telephone number. Select "Auto-start Application in Background". Click "Next".

Step 3: Adjust the volume control and click "Next".

Step 4: Select the preferred Video Input Device (webcam) and Audio Input and Output Devices. Click "Next".

Step 5: Click on "Finish".

Configuring nearly complete

At this point, you may be able to see yourself on the screen if you have a webcam installed. If not, make sure you have installed the webcam properly or go to Controls and Select Camera to choose your preferred video input.

Step 6: Go to Setup, Data and select all options and click on OK.

Step 7: You must close and restart the Polycom PVX client. You are ready to start a video conference.

To close Polycom PVX: Close Polycom PVX by clicking on the [x] on the upper right conner of the client. If you allow Polycom PVX to run in the background, you have to right-click on the Polycom PVX icon in the lower right corner of the taskbar and select "Close".

To start Polycom PVX: Double click on the Polycom PVX icon on the desktop to start or go to Start menu->All Programs->Polycom PVX.
