Reporting Security Incidents

Reporting a virus

If you have a Monash University user and believe that you have a virus that is not currently detected by the Monash University anti virus systems please:

  • Send an email to security@monash.edu.au
  • In the subject of your email say: "Virus report"
  • Attach the potential virus to your email, in a zip file.
Important:

You must password protect your attachment with the password 'monash' so that it gets through our virus scanners.

If a different password is used or the subject is wrong, your report will be discarded!

We will then verify your report and take appropriate action so that the virus is detected by our anti virus systems as soon as possible.

Report an IT security incident

Security incidents include but are not limited to:

  • Apparent hacking of machines(s) for which you are responsible
  • Your machine(s) being used as a staging point for denial of service attacks
  • Your machine(s) being subject to denial of service attacks
  • General IT Security queries.
