Installing Sophos@Home
These instructions will guide you through the steps for installing Sophos@Home. It is split into the following sections:
Before you begin
Download the Sophos@Home installer file from the following link:
http://sophos.monash.edu.au/Sophos@Home.exe (exe 43.9MB)
Note: You will need to enter your Authcate username and password to download the installer file.
It is also recommended you read the following:
Uninstalling existing Anti-virus programs
Previous versions of Sophos or any other vendors anti-virus program must be uninstalled.

From the Start menu, select Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. |

Select Sophos AutoUpdate from the list of programs. |

Select Remove.

Select Yes when asked "Are you sure you want to remove...". |

Select Sophos Anti-virus from the list of programs. |
| 6 |
Repeat steps 3-4 to remove Sophos Anti-virus. |

Restart your computer when prompted. |
Install Sophos@Home

Close any programs you have running. |

Open the Sophos@Home installer file on your desktop.

Wait while Sophos@Home installs.

Configuration

Right-click on the grey Sophos shield in your System tray

Select Configure updating

Enter your Authcate username and password in the User Name and Password fields including the Confirm Password field.

Note: Do not change the Address field

Select the Secondary Server tab and repeat step 3. |

Select Ok to save changes and exit. |
Updating

Right-click on the Sophos icon in your system tray (grey shield) |

Select Update now

Wait while Sophos updates

|

Check that the Sophos icon in your system tray has turned blue. |
| 5 |
Hover your mouse pointer over the Sophos icon in your system tray and check that a "Protected by Sophos" message appears.

Note: You can manually check for Sophos updates at any time by right clicking the Sophos icon in your system tray and selecting Update now.
Troubleshooting
- Most issues with Sohpos anti-virus are caused by incorrect configuration settings. Follow the Configuration steps above to check these settings.
- The Sophos support knowledgebase contains details of a large number of typical problems and their resolution.
- For additional assistance, please contact your local IT service desk.
Note: If you change your Authcate password at any time, you will also need to change it in Sophos (see Configuration steps)
