Disk Storage

ITS disk storage services provide physical disk storage for servers over the dedicated storage area network SAN) and IP network. This disk storage can be likened to the hard-disk in your PC but has built in resilience against failure. Some of the benefits of disk storage via a storage area network are:

improves disaster recovery as the disk storage is external to the server and can be stored in multiple locations

greater flexibility to provision the correct amount of storage required

greater resilience against failure due to storage intelligence

more software tools to manage the data, such as remote images, snapshots, etc.

There are four different tiers of disk storage offered by ITS.

The prices listed below are charged once and give the right to use the disk for 5 years after which time the equipment will need to be replaced and a new purchase will be required. Built into this price is the cost of disk, the supporting networks, disk arrays and 5 years of vendor support.

Standard Storage

Standard storage is based on SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) disk technology.

Network Attached Storage

(NAS) Networked Attached Storage provides storage to servers over the IP network as opposed to the dedicated storage area network. This is generally a lower cost as it avoids the high cost of network connections to the SAN.

·         9 -5 weekday support

Electronic Information Classification

Suitable for Protected, Restricted and Public data types

 

Implementation Charges:

Connectivity is over the normal IP network and may not require additional network connections. In circumstances that require extra network interfaces to be added, refer to the network tariffs web site

Replication of data at the same site or at multiple sites.
