Before Using Window to the Stars Software

Install Window to the Stars software in your Linux account. This software is not supported by IT Services. Teaching staff members should be contacted for further assistance.

1. Log in.
2. Open a web browser.
3. Browse to http://www-astro.ulb.ac.be/~izzard/window/ and ensure that you can view the site before continuing.
4. Open a terminal window.
5. Use the following command.
   

   $ wget http://www-astro.ulb.ac.be/~izzard/window/installer


6. An example installation session.
   

   [abac1@pc abac1]$ wget http://www-astro.ulb.ac.be/~izzard/window/installer

[abac1@pc abac1]$ perl installer
Binary ('executable') directory? (must be in your $PATH) [/afs/monash/users/a/b/abac1/bin]

Press Enter to accept the default entry.

Where would you like to install WTTS and TWIN data files? [/afs/monash/users/a/b/abac1/wtts]

Press Enter to accept the default entry.

What is your fortran compiler? [g77]
Type gfortran here for the installation to succeed.

WTTS bin directory : /afs/monash/users/a/b/abac1/bin
WTTS data file directory : /afs/monash/users/a/b/abac1/wtts
Fortran compiler : gfortran

Window To The Stars should now be installed
Try it with the command /afs/monash/users/a/b/abac1/bin/wtts
