Configuring Pan in Linux

Before using Pan, the GNOME newsreader in the Linux labs, you must set up Pan for Collabra.

1. When you launch Pan for the first time, use the Pan Setup Wizard to set up Pan for Collabra.



2. At the About You window, ensure that you email address is set to your Monash email address. Type Monash University as the organization.



3. Configure the news server; the address is collabra1.monash.edu.au, port 119>, short name collabra; Collabra requires a password, in the Login section, tick the authorization box and type in your Authcate user name and password.



4. Configure the mail server as smtp.monash.edu.au, port 25.



5. Finally, click the Save button to use Pan. At the Pan window, click Yes to download a list of groups.
