Blocking web proxy access (draft)IntroductionOccasionally there is the need to prevent a user from being able to use the web proxy service, usually due to disciplinary action. The following procedure needs to be followed in such a case. Note: This is an interim procedure pending final approval. Proposed procedure
Authorized staffThe following staff are authorized to request proxy access restrictions:Staff

Accepted methods of contactAuthorized person needs to send (fax/internal mail) signed written request for the restriction. Telephone, etc are enough for the restriction to be enforced immediately, but written documentation needs to be submitted within 2 working days.Copy of the paper work to go to Directory Manager, Enabling Facilities and to Director, Client Services (or other designated ITS staff member) to provide an audit trail. If the paperwork is not received within 2 working days, the restriction will be removed. Notification will be sent to requesting person in such a case. Reasons for removing accessReason categories to be vague, since Enabling Facilities staff do not need to know the full reasons for the restrictions. Some categories could be:
AppealsAll appeals regarding proxy restrictions need to be referred to the staff member who authorized the restriction.
