Customise your Monash Directory Entry
The modifymdsdetails tool is used to view and change some of your details in the Monash Directory.
Location of the tool
The modifymdsdetails tool can be found at
https://mdsadmin.monash.edu.au/cgi-bin/modifymdsdetails
Access restrictions
To use this tool you must:
- login using a valid AuthCate account.
Changeable information
Once logged in, the modifymdsdetails tool displays your current MDS details.
Changes that can be made online:
- Common (preferred) Name
- Postal Address (staff only)
- Mobile Number (staff only)
- Homepage URL
- Goofey Alias
- Teaching Commitment (staff only)
- Qualification (staff only)
- Description/Interests
- Login Shell
- Photo (staff only)
- Research Interests
- Password
- PID Word Phrase
- Email Forwarding Address
- Email Vacation Message (staff only)
Changes that can be requested online:
- Email address
- Building
- Room number
- Location
Changes such as to username, distinguished name or deparment should first be directed to your computer support person or to the ITS Service Desk.
Entering the details
Notes on changing the following details:
- Common name - Select the desired name from the list. If your preferred name
is not listed, please contact servicedesk.its.monash.edu.au
- Login shell - Select the preferred shell from the list. Note that if you select "Other" you will need
to specify the location of your preferred shell in the space provided. Be sure to enter this correctly
as an invalid shell may cause problems when logging into computer accounts.
- JPEG Photo (staff only) - You can upload a photo of yourself from your hard drive if you have one. The photo
must be in JPEG format and be no larger than 100kB. This photo will be visible in your address book entry.
- Teaching Commitment (staff only)- This field contains a list of subjects that you are involved in. It can be
populated by entering a list of subject codes seperated by white space or new lines.
What's next?
The changed details (if any) will be updated in the Monash Directory immediately
if they were changeable online. Other requests for changes will be delayed by
manual handling and processing.
