Lecture Theatre Refurbishment 2001

The process involved in refurbishing educational technology resources in a lecture theatre is quite complex. As improvements in technology occur, outdated equipment and cabling is required to be replaced with state of the art technology.

The seven lecture theatres that are listed below in the 2001 works program  involved replacing older style Cathode Ray "3-gun" Sony data projectors that were several years old and were uneconomical to maintain with brand new "state of the art" data projectors.

The replacement program also involved installing new "touch" screen teaching lecterns that provide a greater depth of control over the educational technology equipment and the teaching environment within the particular lecture theatre.

In the H2 theatre at the Clayton campus, a Sanyo XP30 data projector was  installed as this theatre is heavily used by the Visual Culture Department from the Faculty of Arts. They require a data projector that can show "movie" style images to their students in a large seating capacity lecture theatre.

The new data projectors in G43 (Berwick) and 5N104 (Gippsland) were  installed to enhance the Teleteaching environment. The majority of Teleteaching within the University is conducted between the Berwick and Gippsland campuses.

Please note that it can take a minimum of 7 working days to upgrade or refurbish Teleteaching lecture theatres.
