Learning and teaching space support services
Service summary
Operational support
- Scheduled and on-call technical support in teaching spaces for teaching staff, other Monash University staff and off-campus hirers.
- Daily operational checks on all educational technology equipment in teaching spaces and perform first line maintenance when necessary.
- Weekly maintenance check of all educational technology equipment and teaching space operating systems, report any equipment or operating faults to the Technical Support Unit.
- Reports of any lighting, seating and building problems to the Facilities and Services Division.
- Audiovisual support to off-campus hirers of Monash facilities.
Provision and support of educational technology equipment
- Supply and setup of educational technology equipment as requested by teaching staff and other departments within the university.
- Demonstrations of the operations of equipment to ensure untroubled operation by the user.
- Assistance for teaching staff and other users to interface their equipment with equipment supplied by the Teaching Facilities Support Unit.
- Electronic scanning of multiple choice answer sheets
- Daily checking and service, if required, of educational audiovisual equipment
- Provide on-call assistance for lecturers using audiovisual equipment in teaching spaces
- Support for teleteaching (educational videoconferencing) across campuses
- Design and installation of audiovisual teaching aids across campuses
- Advice on the technical requirements of teaching aids
- Computer and educational audiovisual facilities in teaching spaces
- Support for videoconferencing facilities.
Training in the operation of lecture theatres
- The opportunity to gain familiarity and competency in the operation of educational technology equipment and teaching space operating systems via training.
- This training is usually given on a one-on-one basis and is available both before and during semester.
