Lighting and SecuritySome of the refurbished lecture theatres have motion sensors installed which will automatically turn on the aisle lights when movement is detected. In the older lecture theatres, light switches can be found on the lighting panel located next to the main entrance door. These panels have a sequence where the top button will turn on all the lights, and the bottom button will turn on minimal lighting. Below are images of the various lighting panels you would expect to see in each lecture theatre.
Lecture theatre lighting can also be controlled from the touch screen panel on the podium. These are located on the right hand side of the of the screen and is useful while teaching (as shown below). For safety reasons, the last person leaving the theatre should switch off the lights from the lighting panel located near the door.

Above: Wall mounted buttons style 5 Equipment RackEach Hi-tech lecture theatre has an audio-visual equipment rack which contains all the equipment needed to run the audio-visual and lighting in the theatre. (The power to any of this equipment should never be turned off). Each rack should contain the following equipment:

A typical Wireless Radio Microphone ProjectorsMost lecture theatres will have one projector, but some have two ceiling mounted projectors. The second projector serves as a backup if the bulb is out, and you can switch between the two using the Touch Screen Monitor. When using the second projector, you can slide the lectern across the lecture theatre to suit the view for the audience.

Connection points for your laptop or notebook Telephone, Support and SecurityAn internal access telephone is located in each lecture theatre. This phone can be used by staff members or students for theatre support calls or in an emergency. For general lecture theatre support, please contact your local ITS, Teaching Facilities Support Unit (TFSU) on your campus.
