PVX software setup instructions

Software installation

The following is a brief guide on installing the Polycom software. A full installation guide is available for more detailed instructions.

  1. Acquire the Polycom PVX software from your respective software representative.
  2. Run the .exe file to commence installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. You must choose to install the software into the default folder listed: C:\Program Files\Polycom\PVX\.
  4. When the installation completes, the program will open automatically for configuration.

Configure your software

Windows XP SP2 users may receive a Windows Security Alert if they have enabled Windows Firewall. If you receive a Security Alert, simply select Unblock to allow the program to run.

  1. Enter your name (firstname lastname), email address and your office telephone number (omit '990' if your number starts with '990'. Leave the number as it is if you do not have a telephone number). Select Auto-start Application in Background then select Next.

  2. Adjust the volume control and select Next.

  3. Select the preferred Video Input Device (webcam) and Audio Input and Output Devices. Select Next.

  4. Select Finish.

    At this point, you may be able to see yourself on the screen if you have a webcam installed. If not, make sure you have installed the webcam properly or go to Controls and Select Camera to choose your preferred video input.

  5. You must close and restart the Polycom PVX client. You are now ready to start a video conference.

To close Polycom PVX, click on the cross icon on the upper right corner of the client. If you allow Polycom PVX to run in the background, you must right-click on the Polycom PVX icon in the lower right corner of the taskbar and select Close.

To start Polycom PVX, double click on the Polycom PVX icon on the desktop to start or go to the Start menu, then All Programs then Polycom PVX.
