Getting started in 5 steps

1. Understand the Acceptable Use Policy

As a Monash student you are granted a computer account, called an Authcate account. This is your main access to the university IT facilities.

Access to your Authcate account is subject to the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Facilities by Students policy. You will be asked to read and agree to the terms and conditions of this policy while setting up your account. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action.

Get your Authcate computer account online by going to: www.its.monash.edu.au/students/ and selecting the 'Register for a new account' link.

2. Access your email

Access to email is available via your Monash Authcate account. You will be able to access your Monash emails from an internet connection anywhere in the world.

Access your email through https://mail.monash.edu.au or the my.monash portal.

3. Check out the labs and internet services

Monash provides a range of electronic and online resources for students. These include on-campus computer labs, some of which have 24-hour access (registration required), while remote access to the Monash network is available to all Monash staff and students. Wireless network access is also available from many locations on campus.

4. Use your my.monash portal

The university-wide intranet portal, called my.monash, provides all on and off campus students with a gateway to Monash’s online resources, including lectures, study timetables, library resources and email.

Go to: my.monash.edu.au to login.

5. Find an ITS Service Desk

Monash provides IT help facilities through the web, by phone and face-to-face Service Desks on each campus. Information on opening times for the ITS Service Desks is available at www.its.monash.edu.au/contact/.
