Connecting to the guest-wireless service

The Monash guest wireless service allows conference attendees, visitors or guests working for faculties or university divisions to be given temporary access to the Monash wireless network for the time they are at Monash.

  1. Do you have a username/password?
  2. Conference attendee? Conference attendees will be issued with a username/password at the start of the conference by Monash University Venues.

    Guest/short term contractor? Guests will need to obtain a username/password via the relevant IT Support group, or the ITS Service Desk.

    Visiting academic or student? Visitors from an eduroam participating institution can log in to guest-wireless with their home university username in the format username@university.edu.au eg jsmith@deakin.edu.au

  3. Scan for available wireless networks and select the network that advertises the SSID of guest-wireless. No encryption keys or similar are required.
  4. Once a connection is established, use a web browser to go to an internet site eg http://www.google.com.au
  5. A login screen will be displayed (using the https protocol). Note: You may need to enable pop-ups if they are disabled.

  6. Enter the username and password you have been provided. (Visiting academics and students should use their own password associated with the email address entered)
  7. After reading and agreeing to the terms of use, check the I accept terms of use box and then click on the Login button.
  8. The browser page will then be returned to the http://www.google.com.au

    At this point, full Internet access will be available.

  9. Click on the small pop up Logout window when finished.
