How to configure Monash-Connect for Mac OS X v10.4 (Tiger)

Step 1 – Configure your Macintosh

  • Open Internet Connect by either
    • Applications folder in Finder, or
    • Wireless menu in the menu bar

  • On the Internet Connect screen
  • Click the >> arrow at the end of the toolbar and select 802.1X from the menu.

  • Select Edit Configurations from the Configuration drop down menu

  • In the User Name field enter your Monash Authcate username
  • In the Password field, enter your Monash Authcate password
  • In the Wireless Network field select Monash-Connect
  • In Authentication, select the TTLS checkbox (and only the TTLS box)

  • Click on the Configure... button
  • In the TTLS dialogue box
    • Click on TTLS Inner Authentication
    • Select PAP
    • Click OK to close the dialogue box

  • Save the settings and close the Configuration dialogue box by clicking on the OK button.

Step 2 – Connect to Monash-Connect

To connect to Monash-Connect

  • Select the 802.1X icon
  • Enter your Monash Authcate Username in the User Name field
  • Enter your Monash Authcate password in the Password field
  • Select the Connect button

At this point the connecting status in the bottom left corner should change from Idle, to Connecting, and then to Authenticating. The final status should be Connected via TTLS.

Note: For future connection attempts, it should be sufficient to select the Monash-Connect network from the wireless network list on the menu bar. Your Mac will remember the 802.1X settings.
